Re: Ferns and Jacobina

If the Boston fern is overgrown (pot is filled with roots, few fronds) you
can divide it easily. With the plant unpotted and on a cutting surface, I
identify the separate growing points (where the fronds are coming from) and
with a sharp knife I cut straight down to separate the growing points from
each other. Then you pot them up in their own pots. Water, fertilize
lightly, and they should quickly start putting out new growth.
