Sounds as if both plants are the genus Hibiscus. Is the bush one (magenta)
a woody plant or herbaceous? If herbaceous, it could be H. moscheutos.
The second plant, since it is a tree, sounds like H. syriacus. Seeds of
both plants require no special treatment, other than, perhaps, to be kept
cool and dry until next spring. Tip cuttings of semi-ripe wood should root
readily.
