After trying to germinate Passiflora seeds by soaking in tea, coffee, orange
juice, lemon juice, vinegar and hydrogen peroxide (all tips I had heard of
previously) before planting and also filing them with no success, I got
drastic this time. This last batch, I nicked the seeds with a nail clipper
then placed them in HOT water and let them soak for 48 hours. I sowed them
June 4. Last Saturday the P. capsularis began coming up and today the first
two P. seemannii peeped through the ground. I don't know if these are just
easier to start but I think I will do this on all future
Passifloras........Whatever works, right?! ;-)
As an afterthought, it has been hotter than blue blazes here too, so that
may be a factor with the lows only being in the low 80's
