Re: germinating in papar towels

In my experience some seeds do mildew but be sure that the baggies are not
sealed shut. I use the little snack baggies that are half size and only
close them in a few places. This keeps air circulating for the seeds. The
cheapo paper towels are better than the thick ones because the root has less
of a tendancy to crawl through the layers. I keep a database of which seeds
need light and which do not. If I don't know I put a few seeds on top of the
towel and a few inside. Most need 70 deg to germinate so I keep them in a
"propagation bed" of sand with a heating cable burried. For those that need
a pre-chill, I put them in the refrigerator. This year has really been
successful. I've started about 130 different packs of seeds. Now to find a
place to plant all the babies.
