Re: Help - broken Gloxinia?

Barbara - I have no experience with gloxinias or with a problem of this kind with
a member of that family.
In other words, I am totally unqualified to give either advice or express an
opinion.
In view of that, and in order to be consistent with some of the other
offerings I've seen on the Net/Web, here is what I would do: I would be inclined
to re-pot the root, with whatever stem is left, at the same level it was before
the accident, and hope for the best.
As to the remainder of the stem, leaves, etc: Yes, I would try rooting the
stem, along with a piece of leaf about 1" square, in about 1" of sand on top of 1"
of ProMix or equal. Definitely with rooting hormone; moist, with heat if
possible, and with a clear plastic cap ("air tight"), under light. You can also
try some leaves the same way, inserting just the leaf stem in the sand. And keep
your fingers crossed.

Separately: I considered sending you a "Mother's Day" card, yesterday,
ostensibly from your cats, but I could only remember Tigger's name, so thought it
best not to without both names. And in view of Tigger's disappearance, it was
probably just as well. I hope, however, that he is back by now.
