Ginny- garden snakes are the natural predators for voles- cats are the next
best things. I have a friend that swears by putting cayanne in the hole
when she plants, it may take some experimenting but what do you have to
loose- M

but alas, I have a terrible vole problem and thought that this year I would
do away with such an enticing habitat for those nasty little creatures. 
Maybe that will help

Would be interested in hearing others thoughts on the subject.  And, while
you're at it, any ideas on how to deal safely (I have beloved pets) with
voles?
