gerninating papaya

Hi seeds list,
          I'm new to the list too. Has anyone had sucess is germinating
papaya solo seeds. I've tried for years with no sucess. Some say that the
seeds have to be severasl months old. Is that true? Is there anyother
treatment that they need to get them to sprout?
