Re: gerninating papaya

Hi Chryl,

I don't have the answer to your question about germinating papaya seeds,
but I do know who does. There is this seed outfit called Rainforest Seed
Company in Costa Rica and they sell all types of exotic seeds and I believe
they have papaya listed. Why not drop them a line. The address is as
follows:

Rainforest Seed Company
Box 241,
San Jose,
Costa Rica.

They have a great seed catalog which costs $2.00 and they put out a monthly
newsletter called ExoticGardening ($24.00 per year). I have recently bought
some seeds from them and the one thing that they stress is to soak the
seeds for 48 hours ,changing the water every 12 hours (they don't explain
why you have to change the water). They also suggest scratching the surface
of hard seeds with a knife or sandpaper before soaking.

Hope this helps...Happy Gardening...Ranjit in Toronto
