Karen,
Perennial species of Adonis, including A.pyrenaica, are notoriously poor
germinators. The reference I use most for seed germination is Norman
Deno's SEED GERMINATION: THEORY AND PRACTICE, and he characterised the
problem as largely due to empty [dead-on-arrival] seeds. Deno reports
germination [at less than 5%] for the related A.vernalis at cool
temperatures. If your seed is viable, it should be sown outdoors now, or
sown and held indoors for a few weeks, then put outdoors.
