Re: Potatoe


Don't use store-bought potatoes!  Potatoes are clones and by the time they
are sold for food the stock is several generations old and full of virus
and sometimes disease. I would recommend not only seed potatoes but
certified seed potatoes. Then you start with clean seed and can save your
own seed for 3 years or so. After that they begin to lose vigor and you're
better off starting anew. Some people recommend not even composting potato
skins or onion peelings because of the disease you can get in your
garden-some of which you can't get rid of in your lifetime. I say better
safe than sorry.
