I have a Phaseolus vine (seed fromThompson & Morgan) and have no idea
what to expect from it. It has climbed my bamboo poles and into a
neighbors tree. At 20+ feet it seems to be thriving. It lost some leaves
when I sprayed an adjacent area with orthene, but seems to have
recovered. I keep the aphids off of it with a permethrin tick spray (at
least as high as I can reach). What I would like to know is if I can
expect it to bloom. I water nearly every day, use a slow release
fertilizer in the soil, and feed with a hi Phosphorous soluble
fertilizer about every ten days. I see no buds and it actually looks
like it is beginning to wane since it hasn't climbed any higher in
weeks. It sits in a 15 gallon pot on my patio. Night temps have just
begun to fall below 70 regularly. I believe it is a tropical, but don't
know if it is a legume family or not. I bought the four very expensive
seeds to show my kids its "Snail Flowers", white spiral blooms. Despite
my tendency to be in morose moods when I tour my heat fried garden, this
vine has held up and thrived in the heat. Now I want to know how or when
to expect blooms? Any help?

Wichita, Kansas zone 6, but hotter than normal, still in the mid 90s.
