I always wait until the seeds are dry on the vine before collecting them.
You probably could collect them a little early and dry them indoors before
storage. They don't hve any special storage requirements.....cool and dry,
like most seeds. In your area, you could go ahead and plant them now where
you want them to grow, they'll sprout in the spring. Or wait, and plant
them in April in situ.
