keeping records ?

Are there any recognised systems for keeping records of seed germination ?
I can find information about germinating seeds, such as Norman Deno's 'Seed
Germination Theory and Practice' and the Thompson and Morgan 'Successful
Seed Raising'.
But I want to keep fairly comprehensive records of my own experiences -
especially with rare and difficult species.
Are old propagation list messages stored where they can be viewed ( I have
been trying to save all the messages containing advice, but as a newbie this
doesn't go back very far ! )
Best wishes,
Matthew Sleigh
