hi marge,
YES!
and used a weed whacker on it also, sickle, flame thrower (not recomended by
extension service) etc, depending on which of the many varieties you grow.
i grow, and have maintained about 15 different ones, all (commonly) called
liriope. one of my fave tools if a little electric scissors/edging lookin
thing, that can be used with a long handle to ease stress on the old knees.
when fully charged up, this critter can even do the chores on miscantrhus and
other cutback perennials.
just do it early enough in the season so you aren't flattopping the emerging
buds. this cannot be remedied once done, and leaves a flat, straight top to
the leaf blade with a delicate tracing of brown. not a pretty sight.
