Thanks, everyone..I had this feeling you could mow it....had not
thought weedwhacker, tho' and certainly not 'flame thrower',
Cindy/Harry :-) Also interesting, your comment on the elec.
scissors/edging tool. Have wondered about that, myself, whether it
actually worked well for tasks. I take my elec. hedge trimmer to my
Miscanthus - works a treat.
Know all about needing to do this early on and the attractive flat
top with brown edge:-) What I seem to end up doing is having to comb
out the old leaves from the new and clip them off in small bunches as
I *never* seem to get to all of mine early enough...sigh..and this
year is no exception.
Kemberly,
Agree, that variegated Liriope - there are several cultivars out, I
think - is really lovely...don't find it quite as robust as the
plain green ones, unfortunately as I'd rather have more of it.
Ginny...never thought of using a mower on Hosta...interesting. My
prob. with mowers is that most of my gardens are not level enough to
be able to get the blinkin' mower to them, let alone use it without
scalping something or damaging the mower blades. I have been using
mower with catcher to suck up leaves from the gravel drive - set on
high, doesn't pick up gravel; much easier and faster than blowing
them, I found. Many uses for mowers besides grass;-)
