Re: hydrangeas?

I can attest to the fact that H. macrophylla will bloom in sheltered shade
in zone 5/6. We have it on the north side of our house. It's the variety
that produces all different colored blooms, I forget the name. The oakleaf
hydrangea is not particular and will grow and bloom anywhere but I have
grown it in full shade and had beautiful blooms AND autumn color. Of
course, H. arborescens ('Grandiflora' and 'Annabelle') both do fine in
full or part shade. I have read that the Peegee actually demands sun, but
have not grown it. Then there's that vining one, which I also have not
grown.
