Re: [SG] Magnolia

Hi Bob:

Thank you for offering to look up information about the Yellow
Magnolia. From the replies I've received, I'm almost certain I have
an 'Elizabeth' and the name does ring a bell. There was a tag on the
plant when I got her but it got knocked off by the wind, a raccoon or
whatever.

The bloom that has finally opened (remember the star magnolias and
the regular common large variegated pink one are just about past) so
it is later than the others. The bloom is quite "waxy" looking an
quite firm and had to the touch. The texture of the bloom is very
much different from the ordinary pink magnolias, which are soft and
have little substance. The yellow one has lots of substance. The
color is vivid yellow as a bud but has lightened to a cream as it
opens. It has taken several days for the first bud to open and it has
closed during the night. There are nine buds with only the one that
has matured. There are no leaves on it yet so I cannot give you a
description on those.

Any information you can find on this will be appreciated. Many
thanks

Forrest
