Re: [SG] Brunneras

Hi Suzy:

Newton, Iowa is about 2 hours West of Davenport on I-80. Just a hop,
skip and a jump from here!

We raise our own rhubarb but no gooseberries. I haven't had a
gooseberry pie for probably 55 years. My Mom always made them for Dad
and I am sure I haven't had any since I left home. They were tart but
great! I'm sure we picked wild gooseberries along with wild Asparagus.
We were poor but us kids didn't know it. We always had food on the
table and shoes on our feet. My Dad was a lock tender on the Illinois-
Mississippi Canal (now referred to as the Hennepin) so we had land to
grow food, raise pigs, chickens, ducks, and had our own cows for meat,
 milk and butter.

Any good advice for planting my Brunneras? Somehow I tend to want to
pot them but not sure if they will transplant well later. It is so
wet here that I will have difficulty planting the Brunneras and the
60 Oriental lily bulbs that came yesterday.

Warm regards- Forrest
