I do not know about the virus effecting Trilliums, might be true. But the
old fashioned Tiger Lilies are the typhoid Mary of the lily world. They are
infected by the virus, but it does not kill them-when you introduce them into
an are with other Lilium the virus spreads to the other lilies and they die.

This is why you do not see the old fashioned Tiger Lilies for sale.

When to move lilies is an easier question to answer, fall is the soonest I
would move them now. The worst time is the month after flowering. The bulbs
are at their smallest size during flowering and seed production. After
flowering the energy produced from the leaves is used to produce new scales
on the bulb.

I would wait till the stem turns brown in the fall before, digging and moving.

If the lilies are planted at the right depth-it is very easy to brake the
tall stems off of the bulbs during moving in the summer.

I have also had good success moving the plants in the spring when they are
only 4-8 inches tall.

The bulbs should be planted for most types 4-7 inches deep in well draining,
porous soils.

Hope this helps a little.
