Dear Marilyn:
You didn't say, in your original message, that your front gravel garden
is in shade. But one assumes that, since this list is called
ShadeGardens,
you have no sun. Most scree situations are in sun, so perhaps we ought
to clear up the sun/shade question first.

If your front garden is sunny, I think the gravel would permit a
beautiful scree garden.
But if your front garden is in shade, a scree is not for you.
