Hello Terri,
    Hardy begonia is Begonia grandis.  Comes in the regular pink blooming
species and a white blooming form. There is also begonia sinensis out there
that is showing up pretty regular now. Looks much like the angle wing
begonia only smaller and is hardy out in the open garden. Pretty much same
leaf shape, and has the red-backed leaves with red stems. Late to emerge
each year. Goes back out with the first frost. Forms colonies from the
little plants that form in the leaf junctions. It is listed as hardy to zone
6, but has been through zone 5 weather here on several occasions. Easy to
grow. Just well drained soil... especially the winter time... and a bit of
mulch.
    I just potted up 4 trays of babies... both grandis and sinensis. I
happen to enjoy them in my garden. Wonderful with the afternoon sun coming
through the leaves.
