Thanks for the response and the compliment. When growing plants, this type of
descriptive writing seems to come out. I guess it's from reading all those
catalogs!!
And yes some people overlook the flowers of hostas and I do too!!! I like the
large blooms with sweet fragrances and the ones streaked in purple you know!
Some, for example, the blooms on Halcyon and 'Frances Williams. I prefer to
just snip those off!!!
Oh, I'd like to mention one thing if you're interested. I'm a lily hybridizer
and I'm working to get set up to do embryo cultures. It's like Tissue culture,
but using a embryo as the explant and growing that in a medium under sterile
conditions. For some reason a few days ago, I took a pod from 'Frances Wiliams
and extracted embryos from the seeds while the pod was still green. I took the
embryo and placed it in a medium I had prepared and sterilized a few months
ago. And yesterday I observed that the embryo had turned green and looks to be
changing in appearance. And I'm surprised that it wasn't contaminated as I
didn't use any sterile technique!!!
Has this procedure ever been tried with hostas do you know?
Hey man if you've got plants you can spare I'd like to trade. I'm I've only
had my special hostas for a few months, so I'm sorry to say you'll be
dissapointed with what I have to offer. If you're looking for shade perennials
however, I can help ya out!
Let me know what u have and what you'd like and I'll see what I can do.
Thanks again,
Riz
