Fires
Well, our garden has gotten a bit too much shade this last week, with
nearby wildfires and smoky conditions. We were packing up valuables
(mostly family pictures, etc.) and getting ready to leave; then reports
would sound more favorable and we would unpack, until the next alarming
news report. Not much fun.
Anyway, I had meant to mention Canyon Creek Nursery, which is not far
from my house, near Oroville, California. They mostly do a mailorder
business, and have a good selection of euphorbias etc. That is where I
found the Red Martin Euphorbia, as well as several others I am going to
try. I also bought an Anemone hybrida Alba, which the owner there
recommended. It is a lovely plant, and shot up about 6 in. in the first
week, and is about ready to bloom. Does anyone know about this plant?
Canyon Creek Nursery can be contacted by email at Johnccn@Sunset.net
They are hoping to have a webpage soon. (I also found a Verbena
bonariensis there, which I have been wanting to try - though it is not a
shade plant, I think. I have a few sunny spots for plants, but now that
I have been so worried about wildfires, maybe we should take out some
more trees!)
