Sorry for the delay in responding as I'm just now beginning to
catch up on mail.  Bobbi, you may want to rethink that cord
around the neck method of carrying your hand lens.  I do know
many people that do.  However, if you also happen to carry
cameras, lenses and/or other equipment that you want close at
hand, the hand lens really gets in the way.

I can't think of a time I needed a hand lens really fast, so
instant access isn't essential.  You can make or find
commercially available cases that will further protect your lens
and that will clip onto a belt loop buttonhole or similar thing.
I have found that is particularly important as the lens loosens
with much use and slips out of the metal protector on its own.
Just be certain to use a lint-free lining.

For antiquing the lens can certainly be put on a silk cord (I
even have some to send if you don't) but it will bash into
everything you lean over.  <g>
