LOL, thanks for your opinions though, and also for the reply about my
Primulas.... at least I can enter something into my spread sheet for them. I
see that you list the anemones as zone 5. Is that a conservative number?
Our yard is fairly protected from winds, so I feel it's worth trying any zone
5 plants, even though we're on the north side of zone 4. I'll give A.
nemorosa 'Vestal' a try for sure. How tall does A. hubehensis var. japonica
'Whirlwind' get? (what a mouthful). Do they all like a rich, humisy soil?
How about for moisture level..(I see that 'Pamina' likes well-drained.)
I was told that the anemone I bought at the garden club sale was probably a
Japanese anemone.....if it's on older one, can you hazard a guess as to which
species it might be? or are all Japanese anemones A. hupehensis var. japonica
of some sort? If I remember right, the flower buds are a real pretty satiny
silver color that open to a pale pink in the fall.
I can "smell" SPRING just around the corner!
