Re: Anemones??

Hello Cindy,
I try to stay on the conservative side when giving Zones. Both of the Anemones
are dormant come winter and that helps. however, A. japonica hybrids are active
right up until they are killed back by hard frost. A. nemorosa goes dormant around
July here and benefits from a somewhat moist mulch. A. japonicas do not want a
mulch over the crown during winter... they resent excessive winter moisture. You
say you have one already, so looks like you know how to handle them in the garden
for success. The japanese hybrid anemones get around two feet when in bloom,
perhaps a bit more if grown well. your soil as described should be perfect for
them. I would see that these receive a protected spot in your area. if you have
success and report back I will mention it in the next catalog.
Since pink is a dominate color among these anemones, I could not hazard a
guess on the exact one you have. Lots of satin pinks out there. If you like it,
then perhaps Cindy's Satin Pink?
