When Kathy sent the email for combinations and I saw she was zone 5, I was
delighted because I too am new to the list and am trying to learn what
plants would complement each other as well as Hosta. Since 85% of my yard
is shaded due to the old Oak stands that are here, landscaping in shade is
the only option (I'm not cutting down trees). So Thank you Kay for
answering and for Kathy because she beat me to asking the question. One
question I have is drought tolerances on some of these plants (I know my
Japanese Painted Fern doesn't like to be dry).
TIA,
Kate
