Some combinations I like are:
Varieg. Sol. Seal with gold hostas in front
Large hostas with astilbes in front
Cim. Recemosa Atropurpurea with gold hostas
A stand of Sundrops with hostas
A stand of Tovara Planter's Palette with blue hostas
Japanese Painted fern with European ginger
Grouping of holly with a large gold hosta
Large hostas planted at the base of tall grasses
