Marian, this is a tough question because we enjoy the different cultivars
for various features. But if I wanted to get someone interested in growing
hostas for the first time, I would recommend these:
FRANCEE beautiful dark green heart-shaped leaves with white edges.
Lavender blossoms.
ROYAL STANDARD glossy medium green leaves with white, very fragrant blossoms.
HONEYBELLS light green foliage with pale lavender, fragrant blossoms.
SO SWEET medium green leaves with white margins. Fragrant purple striped
blossoms.
FRAGRANT BOUQUET light green leaves streaked or marginated with white and
yellow. Fragrant white blossoms.
Most of these are inexpensive and so carefree. No hovering over these
plants. With ample water they will astound and delight you all summer long!
