Tim,
No doubt some folks will come up with a variety of interesting
suggestions.
I'll be repetitious and suggest you look into the varieties of daylily for
bloom
across the whole early to mid season (and some late)...they can usually
handle life if they get at least full sun for half a day. My hostas were
specially
selected for their late season bloom. The hybrids and mutations of the
species
hosta plantaginea (but not exclusively) are sun loving (as long as there
is plenty
if moisture) and late blooming. The hosta leaves keep the ground cool
which pleases my oriental lilies (July/August/September bloom...cultivars
selected for later season bloom). And in the fall the primula perk up
after
things cool down and rebloom. Sorry guys...it's a fairly hohum ordinary
garden
lacking the exotic (well, maybe a bamboo fargesia dracocephala is
exotic?).
It is not a fancy display garden but a fun place which always provides me
with
pleasant activity...sure beats the crowd down at Fred's Bar.
