Hi Sherryl,
For color beginning in July onward in the shade garden you may want to
consider some of the following that are favorites with me in my garden.
Tricyrtis, Toad Lily, and its many sizes, colors and habits. Gentians
are good for blooms from July into December depending upon the selection
and species. Hardy Cyclamen are great near a path, especially on a raised
area to bring them closer to the eye. Monkshood for height. Cimicifuga or
Fairy Candles are favorites with many species and hybrids to choose from.
Get some catalogs and go through them making notes of the late bloomers.
Their colors height, spread and take the list out into the garden and
imagine each one in a special spot. Color photos would be even better.
