Hello everyone,
My name is Jacki Wahlen, and I live in Apple Valley, Minnesota, Zone 4
and we
have a cabin in Northern Minnesota (Brainerd) which is Zone 3.
At home I have a garden about 4 x 10 that has Maple trees surrounding
it. I
am desperately trying to get a perennial garden going and am not having
much
luck. I do have one daylilly plant and it does OK but not great. I
also
have the same size garden at the cabin but it is mostly in the sun so
I'm
trying to work something different with that. We do have lots of shade
in
the back of the cabin and I have planted various hostas around but those
darn
rabbits sure do like them. This year I will have to put up fences I
guess.
Anyway, I would appreciate any help that you can toss my way as spring
is
coming and I'm ready to go. We have had such a mild winter here that it
is
unbelievable. It's been 38 degrees most of the last week, and they
expect
the same kind of weather again this week.
At the moment I don't know a lot about shadeplants but want to learn as
much
as I can. I know there are so many beautiful plants available.
I'll be listening and will be willing to try out your advise.
Jacki
