nandinas for sun and shade

hey all

while at the local nursery chain today in all the rain, i decided to follow
up on my threat to let the public know what nandinas are in the common trade.

these plants represent about a 75' long row, with sizes of each variety from
1 gal to 5, also some 20gal domesticas, about 5'high.

nana purpurea- nice red color, dwf, with "larger leaf"
harbor dwarf-nc dwarf, good texture
firepower-lots of yellow in some, red in others, various amounts of shading???
plum passion- odd shade of purple new growth, very nice, and delicate texture
domestica- the "straight" species, best for berry production, self seeding
here, "colonizes readily" ,lol (spreads like a weed)
moonbay- very delicate textuenic orange tones
gulfstream- another new one, dwarf
royal princess-(my fave ) 4-5' tall, delicate distinctive foliage texture
compacta-an old "standard", smaller than species, but no dwarf.

"best" color is achieved in full sun, but i have several var's in fair deep
shade, and i get berries on the species in full dark:30

enjoy

harry
