Looking for something new, I recently bought an issue of The English
Garden, in its American/Canadian edition. which is still veddy British.
They have a large-format page, which makes the photos more impressive, and
the photos themselves were rather different (as were the gardens) from
what we see in US mags, so that was good.
On the other hand, there seemed to be a greater emphasis on non-hardy
plants, e.g. trees that are only hardy to zone 7, and they kept giving
measurements in centimeters and meters, which I personally find
intimidating. Featured gardens are quite imposing, perhaps too much so.
The British ads were a lot of fun, though. I think the newsstand price was
fairly competitive with the usual gardening magazines, maybe a buck more.
You might want to have a look, just for a change.
