Hello Bobbi,
    I believe magazine editors get around your "MUST" by the contract. All
writers receive a contract up front to be signed setting the terms for the
article. Some where in all the paragraphs there will be something about the
writer acknowledging the fact that the editor may change the words of the
text. They do not say you get to approve the changes.... but simple courtesy
would seem to dictate a final communication.
    Newspapers are a horse of a different breed.... among the most lacking
in simple manners I have ever dealt with..... all under the guise of busy,
busy.... Hey! aren't we all?
