Glaucidium palmatum revisited

I heard a lecture this morning by Barry Yinger about Japanese plants. He
showed some lovely photos of glaucidiums and said that their reputation for
being hard to grow is "well-deserved." The biggest problem, he said, is
that they need cool shade. On other words, they can't stand afternoon sun.
Yinger suggested planting them to the north of a building. His (in Penn.)
are in a spot that gets no sun after 10 a.m.
    Just passing this along.
