Dear Sombreros,

Houttuynia cordata 'Chamaeleon' can easily be identified because if you
break off a leaf it will smell like a very sweet orange. But this is one
plant along with Vinca that one should avoid at all costs in planting
anywhere in a garden except in containers as you will never ever be able to
get rid of them. We have Houttuynia in a window box and it looks just fine.
It's a weed.
