Re: [SHADEGARDENS] deer and talk radio

About the deer. In my japanese garden construction, we used the "deer scare,"
or shishi odoshi. These former argricultural tools make a loud "clacking
sound " at regular intervals to "scare animals" that are eating the crops.
They work for a while. Deer are incredibly smart critters.

I found a product made by Daisy, yes the bb gun folks, have a solar powered
devise to detect motion and sound an alarm. I've had it for years, in the
weather outside, and it performs flawlessly. Scares the snot out of them.

Another neat thing i saw was a sprinkler impact nozzle that is motion
activated. Screw onto your hose and aim. Critter sets it off, gets hosed
down with water. Neat.
Don't remember the name on that one.
