Haven't tried it... but two things come to mind:

1) please, please put the radio on a GFI outlet, so you don't get fried if
something happens to the cord (if hubby the engineer were up yet, I'd ask
him if it would be possible just to put the speaker out in the yard, on a
very long wire from the radio -- the voltage and current to just the
speaker would be much lower)

2) most animals can get used to just about anything constant/consistent
in their environment.  It might be more effective to use motion detectors
that would turn on the radio, rather than leaving it running all the time.

Of course, I haven't seen anything that will really scare off a truly
hungry deer.  But this is certainly worth a try if your area isn't under
really high deer predation pressure.
