Susan and Friends,
I too am getting more and more impressed with Pulmonarias. I principally have Hostas, and Pulmonarias provide a similar foliage plant with such different leaf shape, clump shape, and variegation pattern and color. My favorite is P. saccharata 'Sissinghurst White', but only because it is the oldest and largest. I planted about 30 cultivars last summer and will await their emergence this spring. In general, I suspect that flowers will not be my favorite part of their performance, but leaves. At this point, however, I'm only to the stage of categorizing them by overall pattern. Bascially they are:
1) green
2) green with white or silver spots like paint splatter
3) silver with green edge
4) green with silver edge
Are there any other styles of variegation anyone in Shadegardens knows about?
Cheers,
Steve
