Chinensis pumila has another attribute, too. It usually flowers, for me
anyway, at the time my bleeding heart foliage is dying back. I have it
planted all around the bleeding hearts.
I also want to thank you for the list of astilbes. There are so many anymore,
it's hard to know which to order. I like the smallest, A. liliput and perkeo.
Any suggestions on culture to get a good stand of them? I am still growing
perkeo, but it doesn't bloom and doesn't increase, so I'm sure it's not happy.
Are there any other really small ones that I need?

Another aspect of this astilbe is that it will prosper in dryer soil than the
rest of the family. I am on a mountainside with all gardens sloped so I
appreciate this astilbe.
