Hi I also live in zone 6 and am under the impression that Amorphophallus is
not hardy here. Try growing it in a large container that can be taken into the
garage for the winter. I have an unheated back poarch that faces south and am
able to carry over a number of plants that normally would not be hardy in our
reagon.
Just make sure that when your plant starts to bloom it is outside and away
from any window because the scent is best discribed as a SMELL simular to
rotting flesh.It is an interesting plant with wonderful foilage and a most
interesting mottled stem that is more like a trunk than a stem.
