Re: [SG] Laurus nobilis--and information abut MAHONIA

I am in Zone 4--I am not sure whether it is A or B--and cannot find
Mahonia anywhere in local nurseries. Those who run the nurseries tell
me it is not hardy here, but the Chicago Botanical Garden has Mahonia
Aquifolium in two fairly unprotected locations as well as Mahonia
repens all over its front entrance.

I would like to try a single bush for a few years before I replace my
existing :"foundation" planting of pruned yews with a wild Mahonia
hedge.

Any thoughts from you all more experienced gardeners--and ideas about
which variety would be best and where to find strong Mahonia Aquifolium
plants?
