Re: [SG] gingers

Globbas (a/k/a Dancing Girl Gingers) would be another
possibility, yes. They need shady conditions. For me they
are just a little more finicky than the Kaempferia, need good
drainage and more susceptable to rotting during dormancy
overwinter if they stay wet. Also, the foliage is not as striking
as the Kaempferia, but the blooms are really unique and that
would make them good for containers. Also, I found that they
are extremely long lasting as cut flowers.

You can see more about them at my web site at
http://www.freenet.tlh.fl.us/~skinnerd/GlobbawinitiiWhiteDragon
.htm and at
http://www.freenet.tlh.fl.us/~skinnerd/Globbaglobulifera.htm

I increased my ginger collection a lot this year and have not
had a chance to get them all set up on the website, but if you
are interested you can find several more by going to the index
at http://www.nettally.com/skinnerd/ombrage.html.
