Beetle

 Diann,

I finally remembered to check on your beetle at work. It is the Golden
Tortoise Beetle, Metriona bicolor. Common over eastern North America, likes
wild morning glory, sweet potato (!), raspberry and maize (?).

Another similar beetle that feeds on the same plants is the Milkweek
Tortoise Beetle, Chelymorpha cassidea. It looks similar, except is duller,
brick red or yellow, and the edge of the "shell" is transparent. I
frequently find the two of them together on the same plant.

Gerry
