Have two species here and neither one are showing signs you describe. Don't
know about your area, but we had a very early spring here and it would not
surprise me to see a very early fall.
Have you had any prolonged periods without water this year? Amsonia should not
be going dormant around here until fall.
Incidentally, looks as though this perennial sub-shrub is finally catching on
with gardeners. And about time...I have seen 5 species show up this year for the
first time in wholesale catalogs. One of the nicest perennials around for good
foliage in several different forms, great fall colors, quite blue blooms, blends
very well with just about anything else in the garden. Also happens to be easy to
grow with know pests that I am aware of.
