fern 'starter' questions

A friend of mine came back from Portugal and brought me 2 fern
'cuttings'. Yes I know he shouldn't have but he did.
(Actually I asked him why, once he was doing that, he didn't bring me
back some fig cuttings!!LOL!)
I would like to try to get these to grow but haven't the foggiest idea
of how.
Right now they are in ziplock baggies with their roots covered with a
wad of wet/damp tissue. I haven't opened them yet.
Help.!!!!!!!
