Hello everyone?
I have been registered with this list server for many months
and today I received my first message! Great, I hope it
keeps up
I am a Certified Master Gardener and one of the founders of
the South Carolina Native Plant Society. Because of house
locations I have been interested in shade gardening for over
20 years. At my current house (hopefully, last house) in
Greenville, SC (zone 7b?1,000 feet in elevation in the
foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains), we just purchased
about a half acre of woods behind the house and have been
clearing brambles and briars (Smilax, blackberry and such)
and developing walking paths and began plantings of both
natives and non-natives.
Question: I was just recently exposed to two beautiful
large leaved plants, have acquired them from mail order, but
they are not doing that well (barely surviving). One is
Astilboides tabularis and the other is Darmera Peltata,
?Umbrella Plant?.
Any cultural information you can give would be greatly
appreciated.
