Re: hostas

I will echo Gene Bush's reply " Each to his/her own...... " and "I Just I
think they tend to get overused in the shade
 garden."

When I first started gardening many moons ago, I had some hostas on the
north side of the house. They were some of the larger varieties and I soon
decide that they weren't for me. Maybe 10 years ago, I purchased some small
and dwarf varieties. Most of the "small" ones are too large for me and
started to overwhelm (and overstay) their welcome. I will keep some of the
dwarf ones, but even these will be restricted and confined to their assigned
places. Two of my favorite shade plants are ferns, in their infinite
variety, and Epimedium and the choices here are exploding.

Sorry, if I have tread on anyone's toes, but "to each his own".
