I have had this plant in a community grouping in a pot in the shade for two
years - ironically, the books say zones 9-10 (I'm zone 9) and the plant
barely makes it through the summer.  But I take special care and provide
extra water and he does scrape by my August heat and humidity.  This plant
really thrives down here when the temperatures are cooler.  I don't see why
you couldn't put this one on a sunny window.......my book actually says that
where it is not hardy to grow in an indoor aquarium using saturated soil.
